TradeStone Software Receives “Positive” Rating in Leading Analyst Firm’s PLM MarketScope Report
Gloucester, Mass., April 15, 2008 – TradeStone Software, the retail industry’s leading provider of private label and global sourcing solutions, today announced the company received a “Positive” rating in Gartner’s “MarketScope for PLM in Apparel, Footwear and Accessories, 2008.”[i] TradeStone’s Merchandise Lifecycle Management solutions were measured against 14 vendors in the PLM market in the report.

Gartner’s “Positive” is building on TradeStone’s current momentum, which includes having recently signed two new multi-million dollar deals, the first with one of the U.S.’s largest and most popular apparel and footwear retailers to the teen and young adult market, as well as one with Canada’s largest food and drug retailer. Both retailers selected the full Merchandise Lifecycle Management suite as an end-to-end solution that supports the design, coordination and delivery of their highly profitable and innovative merchandise to the sales floor.

“We believe these ratings are just a further testament to the strength and hunger in this market for our Merchandise Lifecycle Management solutions, the acknowledgement of our deep domain retail expertise, best in class methodologies, the vision of our team, and most importantly, the overwhelming support of our customers,” said Sue Welch, CEO, TradeStone Software.

TradeStone’s Merchandise Lifecycle Management suite of solutions include PLM for Retail to help with the design and development of private label and branded merchandise; Global Sourcing to source, compare and select suppliers; Global Order Management to buy, sell and deliver merchandise; Quality Management to measure, test and grade merchandise and factories; and  Supplier Management to manage the supplier/manufacturer relationship. This comprehensive suite provides Apparel, Footwear and Accessories retailers with solutions that can make an immediate impact like – a significant reduction in spreadsheets and emails, improved visibility and accountability into their supply chain, reduced cycle times and increased margins. TradeStone’s Merchandise Lifecycle Management suite also leverages a retailer’s existing technology infrastructure to layer over their legacy systems, which avoids having to incur a rip-and-replace approach.

According to Gartner, “Some vendors are extending the scope of their traditional PLM suites to also include capabilities focused on the challenges of global order management and global sourcing, as well as the processes necessary for a successful product design and development.  Moreover, the vendors that are broad-based PLM solution providers clearly have an advantage over other solutions as a result of their PLM experience across multiple industries. Organizations looking to adopt a PLM for AFA solution will need to ensure compatibility with their existing IT infrastructure or recognize the implications of adopting new technology platforms.”

In developing its MarketScope reports, Gartner undertakes a meticulous evaluation process including in-depth customer interviews and extensive vendor reviews. Gartner bases its MarketScope evaluations on a company’s business model, product/service, market understanding, the company’s approach to product development and delivery, overall viability, which includes an assessment of the overall organization's financial health, as well as ability of the organization to meet its goals and objectives.
